Rick Spangler is a Director at Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James and is based in Winston-Salem. Rick focuses on working with private and institutional clients to create long term, customized financial plans. He specializes in asset allocation modeling, utilizing quality investment vehicles and alternative assets when appropriate.

Rick is a Certified Investment Management Analyst and has spent the past 20 years serving institutions, high net worth investors and their families. Prior to joining Alex. Brown, Rick spent 19 years at Wachovia Bank working with clients in the Corporate Banking and Institutional Trust divisions. Rick graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971 with an AB degree in Economics. He earned a MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia in 1977 and graduated from the Wharton School with his CIMA in 2002. Rick holds the Series 7 and 66 securities registrations.

Rick also earned the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) credential offered by ASPPA/NAPA which focuses on the expertise required of advisors to act as a plan fiduciary or to help plan fiduciaries manage their roles and responsibilities.

In his free time, Rick enjoys golf, fly fishing, and sailing. As a community volunteer, he is the past Treasurer of the Arts Council Endowment and recently served as head of the building and grounds committee of Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community.
